CLEAVER Brian It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brian Cleaver who passed away unexpectedly at the Southampton Hospital in Canada on Sunday 17th December, 2023 at the age of 76. Before emigrating to Canada, Brian lived with his parents Victor and Louise Cleaver and sisters Beryl and Margaret at Pill Lane, Milford Haven. A proud Welshman by birth, Brian eagerly embraced the Canadian community as his own. His father, Victor and sister, Beryl both served as Mayor of Milford Haven and Brian followed in their footsteps by becoming Mayor of Port Elgin, Canada in 1991. For decades he was active in community social clubs and public service. In 2008 Brian won the Town's Heritage Conservation Award for his work with the Southampton Art School Restoration Committee. To mark his passing and to honour his service the incumbent Mayor Luke Charbonneau, ordered all municipal flags to fly at half-mast. Brian was a loving husband to Nancy Wyonch and a dear father to Sharon (Allan Jackson) Cleaver, Amanda Cleaver, Paul (Akiko Ebihara) Cleaver, and Rosalie (Benjamin Graham) Wyonch. A proud grandfather of Olivia, Allison, Graeme, Alexandra, Tomis, Naomi, Dylan, and Emma, and great grandfather of Ilya. Brian is survived by sister Margaret Heapy and nieces and nephews, Eleanor, Nicolas, Stephen, Christopher and Joanne. Also, fondly remembered by Nancy's family, Carole (Michael), Jim (Linda), Deb (Steve), and Janet and all of their families. Brian will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
