PEMBROKESHIRE County Council has apologised after public toilets in Milford Haven were left locked for more than two months - despite the town council paying for them to be open.
The toilet block on the Rath in Milford Haven was one of many facilities in Pembrokeshire faced with closure as the county council looks to save money.
It was saved from permanent closure by Milford Haven Town Council, who agreed to set aside £3,500 from its budget to pay the county council to operate and maintain the facility, meaning the toilets would be open to the public between April and September.
At a meeting of the town council's public works and planning committee on Monday (June 9), Cllr Tony Eden said had passed the toilets several times, but they still appeared to be closed.
The Milford Mercury visited the Rath on Tuesday, and found the toilets were locked.
A spokesman for the county council said: "The public toilets on the Rath at Milford Haven have inadvertently been closed since April 1 as a result of an oversight on our part for which we apologise.
"We are pleased that the Town Council has brought this to our attention this week and are opening the conveniences as soon as possible."
