THE Mayor of Milford has made a special appeal for information after a boat engine used by the town’s young cadets was stolen.
At some point between Thursday, June 5, and Saturday, June 7, a Honda 10HP tiller-driven engine was stolen from the premises of the Milford Haven Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets, based on the Haven’s Head Business Park.
The engine powered a safety boat for sail, row and windsurfing training for the cadets –who are aged between 10 and 18 - and also was used to train cadets in boat handling skills for power boat training.
Sub Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott said the incident was a “massive blow” for the unit.
Mayor of Milford Haven Cllr Eric Harries, who is also Chairman of Milford Haven Sea Cadets, has appealed for anyone with any information to contact Milford Haven Police on 101.
“It saddens me to realise that someone would stoop to the depths of stealing such an important piece of equipment from a voluntary organisation,” he said.
“As a result of this very irresponsible act, the cadets have their facilities reduced by 50 per cent, meaning that they can’t participate in some very important activities.
