A SHOWCASE of some of Pembrokeshire’s most talented singers, musicians and dancers has raised more than £2,700 for two local charities.

Organised by best friends Laura Venables and Eleri Buck, the sell-out Torch Theatre show was organised as a tribute to both their families.

Eleri, from Neyland, lost her mum Nina in 2008. She died suddenly at home, aged just 41 – an experience Eleri said was very difficult to deal with growing up.

Laura’s dad Nigel was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 14 years ago, and now relies completely on his family to look after him.

Both girls danced on stage as part of the concert, and the £2,790 raised will be split between the HOPE MS centre in Neyland, and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

“It was such an amazing experience and probably the best night of my life,” said Eleri.

“Putting the show on, with one of my closest friends, and selling out the entire Torch Theatre - I woke up the next morning and was so gutted it was all over, I didn't know what to do with myself!

“Also being able to give something back to my lovely Mum was an incredible feeling and by raising so much money for the charities I hope we have helped them to change people’s lives.”

Also performing were dancers Naomi Pearce and Anthony Matsena, plus local groups On Your Toes and Unison, singers Amber Aldridge, Rosanna Cale, Ian Evans, Kamille Tiglao, Carys Evans, Meg Charlton, and Laura’s brother Mark Venables.

Local bands The Review and Two’s Enough got the crowds dancing in their seats, and comperes Simon and Gabriel Haslam entertained between the acts.

“The amount of support we have received is overwhelming and we are so thankful, more than anyone would ever know,” said Eleri.

“Everyone's saying it should be a yearly thing so who knows there may be a part two.”
