A LOCAL amateur dramatics group has begun preparations for its latest production, 20 years after it was first performed.
Penned by local author Jeff Dunn, ‘Sentimental Journey’ is the follow-up to Jeff’s first play – The Day War Broke Out.
Originally performed two decades ago, Sentimental Journey is the tale of two Milford families and their friends, and follows the ups and downs of their lives through a sequence of ‘special celebrations’.
Set in a fictional Milford pub, it spans four decades, from the end of the war up until the 1970s.
As well as demonstrating the humour and frailties of the characters, there is also more than a smattering of ‘local’ news items, and plenty of well-known songs.
And among the St Katharines Stratford Players cast will be three actors who performed in the initial airing of the play 20 years ago.
Having completed the inital "script reading" stage, the Players are now making plans for props and costumes, ahead of performances in November to raise money for Ty Hafan and the Paul Sartori Foundation.
