A TALENTED Milford Haven cadet is celebrating after coming second in a national writing competition.
Ordinary Cadet Alfie Anderson was praised for his entry into the Trafalgar Way writing competition, in which he was one of the only winning boys against a number of girls.
Alfie, who had entered the 12 to 16 years category, was joined by his very proud mum Hilary at an awards presentation ceremony onboard HMS Victory in Portsmouth.
Thirteen-year-old Alfie was also one of only two Sea Cadet winners, and turned up in his uniform, proudly looking the part and saluting the Commanding Officer as he marched up to receive his prize.
Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott RNR, Milford Haven's Commanding Officer, said: “This was fantastic news to receive, that not only do our cadets succeed in competitions of a practical nature, but also in an academic capacity too.
"Well done Alfie, I hope you enjoyed the presentation.”
