A Pembrokeshire mum helped to raise more than £7,000 for a south Wales children's hospice.
Michelle Murdoch, from Milford Haven, was one of the participants in Tŷ Hafan’s first-ever ‘A Walk to Remember’ event.
The event, which took place on September 14, saw 28 people walking along the coastal path from Penarth Pier to Tŷ Hafan’s hospice in Sully.
The six-mile walk, which took place at dawn, was in memory of loved ones and so far has raised more than £7,000 for the hospice.
Tŷ Hafan is a children’s hospice that provides care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Ms Murdoch took part in the walk for her son Louis, who died at the hospice on September 17, 2016.
He had been diagnosed with the genetic neuromuscular disease spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1 when he was just five months old and was not expected to live to his first birthday.
However, he lived to be three-and-a-half years old.
Ms Murdoch said: "It was eight years ago, almost to the day, that Louis passed away in Tŷ Hafan.
"We live in Milford Haven now and we like to come back to Tŷ Hafan for Louis’ birthday and for when he passed away - and we felt that taking part in the Walk to Remember was just a really nice way to remember him."
As part of the walk, Ms Murdoch and her partner Greg, along with their children Lily and Arlo, raised £2,373 for the hospice.
Ms Murdoch said: "Our aim was to raise £200, and I only put the Justgiving page up a week before the walk itself.
"In the event we raised more than £2,000, which is amazing and we are so grateful for all the support."
The family have raised money for the hospice in memory of Louis in the past, with Mr Murdoch doing events such as the London Marathon and their friends and family taking part in events such as the Taff Trail ride and the Cardiff Half Marathon.
Ms Murdoch said: "It means so much to us that our friends and family continue to support Tŷ Hafan in Louis’ memory, he would be so proud."
The walk was also attended by Tŷ Hafan’s events manager Jodana Weekley.
Ms Weekley said: "The weather couldn’t have been more perfect as we walked, talked and remembered our loved ones while the sun rose across the sea.
"When we reached Tŷ Hafan, we were met by our wonderful volunteers who were on hand with hot drinks and breakfast rolls which we all enjoyed together on the deck."
