Dear editor, Reading your article in last week’s Mercury concerning the soon to be law plastic bag charge (which may be a good wheeze, who can say), it set me wondering.
As shoppers will be expected to remember to take their reusable bags or incur a 5p charge for a plastic one, will the same rule apply to the council? Will they have to pay every person 5p for every black rubbish bag they collect or will the residents of Milford finally be issued with reusable large seagull-thwarting wheelie bins which are obviously needed, especially in summer?
I would also at this time like to thank the council for the food composters issued several years ago as living in a second storey flat I find it can hide a multitude of sins and is bubbling away nicely in my kitchen.
