Dear editor, I WENT to Milford Haven Grammar School in the 1960s and met my best friend Laura there. We both live in Twickenham now with our husbands and I haven’t been back to Milford since I left in 1968.
As a belated 60th birthday present, Laura bought me a weekend in Milford so we could enjoy a ‘down memory lane’ experience.
I didn’t know the Christmas lights event was happening so it was a nice surprise.
We stayed in the excellent Pier Road Guesthouse run by Gail and Barrie Williams.
Among the many places in Milford we visited were the Haven Fish Bar, the Rath, the Thomas A Beckett fisherman’s church, the Lord Nelson Hotel, the former sites of Rabiotti’s, Woolworths and the Bus Station.
It was a wonderful and nostalgic weekend. We were both especially ‘touched’ by the Seal Hospital in the Marina and wish we could do more to help improve the situation.
I have every respect and admiration for the volunteers who give up their time to look after the local sea life in such difficult conditions.
