ANTI-austerity demonstrators are heading to London this Saturday (July 1), to take part in a protest against Government cuts.

Organised by UK Unions and the National People’s Assembly movement, it is expected to draw protesters from around the country.

Jim Scott, of Pembrokeshire People’s Assembly Against Austerity and Pembrokeshire Green Party is organising a coach which will collect people from Haverfordwest and Carmarthen in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He said: “We are all tired after an intense General Election campaign however with Theresa May’s government in disarray and Stephen Crabb barely clinging on to his seat in Pembrokeshire, I thought we should put out a cursory shout-out on social media to gauge the level of enthusiasm for a coach to the demo.

"Within 48 hours we had enough seats pledged plus a few generous donations that I was able to go ahead and book the coach.

"What’s also great is that due to the donations we have received we will be able to offer concessions for those on lower incomes or affected by cuts.”

The demonstration, themed #ToriesOut ‘Not One Day More’ aims to show that May’s government is untenable and will put pressure on her to resign immediately.

Jim continued: “The Tories have lost their mandate and have failed to form a viable government, it’s time for them to go.
