ROSEMARKET Golf Club held a two-day Welsh Hook Scratch Shield competition at the weekend.
On Saturday, Chris Hine was in seventh with a gross 89 and he was six shots behind joint leaders Alex James and Gary Lloyd.
On day two, Alex shot 82 and Gary 83, however, it wasn't only the sun burning up the course on Sunday, Hine shot a sizzling 76 to beat Alex James on count back with a total gross score of 165. Third was Gary Lloyd 166, fourth Tom McCarthy 169 and fifth Jock Wilson 170. On Tuesday, the seniors played a pairs stableford competition, winning with 52pts were Brian Johnson and Chris Harding. Runners-up were Colin Rogers and Mark James with 50pts, third was Dennis Evans and Max Smith with 49pts.
Alison McCormack maintained her fine recent form by winning the handicap competition with a nett 67. Thanks to junior organiser Tony Deakin for sponsoring the prizes.
Junior nine-hole results off white tees Harley Holmes 11pts, off yellow tees Luke Young 11pts beating Tom Strand on count back, third Alex Young 10pts. Off red tees Amber Deakin 10pts. Off blue tees Murphy Banner 19pts and runner-up Michael Strand 12pts.
