IT was the annual contest at Rosemarket Golf Club on Sunday of Neyland versus The Rest match play format.
As always it was a close contest. There were big wins for Neyland captain Scotty Martin 5 and 4 against Mark McCormack and for The Rest Chris Llewellyn 6 and 4 against Ian Pugh and The Rest captain Paul McCarthy won 5 and 4 against Gary Lloyd. Final result was a win for The Rest 3 and a half to 2 and a half.
The Dyfed league team defeated St Davids 4-3 on Saturday with Tom McCarthy and league captain Peter Morgan taking the best win 5 and 4. New St Davids green keeper Arwynne Watkins made it a winning return to Rosemarket with a 3 and 2 win in his match.
On Tuesday, the seniors contested the Ted and Helga Thomas Trophy with a pairs low and high handicap medal format. Winning with a nett score of 149 were Colin Rogers and Bill Wilson. Runners-up were Geoff Browning and Tony Waldes with a nett 162. Third Roger Scrimshaw and John C Davies nett 163. Twos winner was Colin Rogers.
Junior nine-hole results yellow tees Tom Strand 17pts, runner-up Luke Young 15pts.Blue tees winner Michael Strand 19pts. Michael Strand leads the summer league with 168pts, second Thomas Strand 141pts, third Alex Young 120pts, fourth Amber Deakin 103pts and fifth Luke Young 101pts.
