Welsh Cycling has a new chairman.
The riding governing body in Wales recently appointed Adam Walker as its new independent chairman.
After a consensus to alter its articles, this role was given to Mr Walker.
His passion for the sport combined with extensive experience will be vital in guiding the group through a significant period of restructuring and enhancement.
Having been in various executive positions in sports organisations, including chairman for England Volleyball and GB Table Tennis, Mr Walker is no stranger to leading.
He had recently resigned as CEO of Oaks Consultancy, a firm that collaborated with Welsh Cycling in shaping the new strategy.
His involvement with the project piqued his interest to apply for the role.
He now steps into the chairman’s role at a time when the sport's popularity is on the rise across various disciplines.
Mr. Walker said: "I am honoured to take on the role of chair at Welsh Cycling during such a critical and exciting time for the organisation and the sport as a whole.
"I am confident that, together with the dedicated team at Welsh Cycling, we can build on the success of the past and ensure that cycling remains a vibrant and accessible activity for all in Wales."
Nevertheless, a taxing financial climate presents its challenges.
Welsh Cycling will introduce its new strategy in the early summer of 2024, keen on maintaining its importance to cycling fans throughout Wales.
The new strategy is intended to meet the progressing demands and anticipations of the Welsh cycling community.
It proposes a novel approach to product development, aimed at empowering essential partners to provide more opportunities, focusing on talent progression, infrastructure enhancement, and promoting an inclusive culture within the sport.
Outgoing chairman, Chris Landon, will remain a key board director with Welsh Cycling and on the British Cycling board.
Mr Landon said: "We are enthusiastic about the wealth of knowledge and leadership that the new chair brings to the position.
"His vision aligns seamlessly with the goals of the organisation, ensuring that Welsh Cycling continues to be a driving force in the cycling community."
Mr Walker will assume charge in April 2024.
Welsh Cycling will continue to provide updates into its work on its social media channels.
